On 18 September 2014, my personal goal of reaching the Modern Pentathlon Masters World Championships will become a reality. My goal in the competition is to achieve a top 10 position in my age group (Mens 40-49). I am now in my second year of training for Pentathlon. This has involved balancing a challenging training schedule around work and family life. Despite a setback in the early part of this year when I was recovering from a broken collar bone and operation to fix it, I am pleased with my progress, especially in fencing and riding. For the past three months I have managed 8-12 training sessions per week across the five disciplines and general strength work. As I prepare to set off, I would like to thank my coaches who have helped me along the way - Alistair, Caroline, James and Priscille - whose knowledge, patience, constructive criticism and support have been invaluable.
